Back to School at JSA

The beginning of a new school year is an exciting time for us at the Joshua School Arusha. There is a feeling of festivity as students reunite with theirs teachers and fellow students who they haven’t seen since the end of their school term last year.

Teachers on the other hand are busy setting up their classes for the students, planning lessons and decorating classrooms. For the next few months, they will be joined by three Joshua Teacher Training College students who will be interning at the school for the next few months.

The start of a new school year means that there is a rise of parents at the headmaster’s office; new parents registering their kids and old parents updating records. We are glad that we have our Secretary, Mrs. Anna, she is a tremendous help in setting up the records.

A new year also means that the seamstress has her hands busy. The students come back from their holidays taller and bigger, while new students also need to be outfitted with the school uniform. It’s all hands-on deck as even the cooks are busy preparing uji, tea and lunch for everyone.

I love the enthusiasm and joy that the kids bring with them. Many students have verbally and artistically shared with their new teachers what they did over their holiday. One of the Pre-Primary students ran up to me and said, “Teacher Wendy I missed you and I missed reading books!”

We are building a learning culture of students who love to read, receive knowledge, understand the power of values, and express their creativity to transform communities one day at a time! Thank you for your love and support of JSA.
